My PIIT28 Fitness Journey

As you may have read in my previous post, I ended 2018 with a 28-day fitness challenge from poppilates creator, Cassey Ho. I purchased her Pilates Intense Interval Training, or PIIT28, and put myself to the test. I dedicated about a month of working out six days a week (despite the holidays). My results were so encouraging.

Although I saw a ton of changes, I didn’t lose much weight. I lost two pounds and 3.5 inches all around, which was great, but I gained so much strength!

When I first began, I could barely keep up. The fitness program calls for four rounds of seven-minute workouts. Basically, you go hard for 45 seconds and rest for 15. It uses the high-intensity training concept mixed with Pilates moves. Some of the hardest moves, but now my favorites, were burpees, tuck jumps, and squat jumps.

Getting back into shape after having a baby was tough. The weight loss part of it wasn’t too difficult but it was my strength and flexibility that were really struggling. I felt like I had never worked out in my life! I pretty much-modified everything during the first week or so. Eventually, I was able to take fewer breaks and to do the moves fully. By the end of the challenge, I was finishing tuck jumps like nobody’s business!

Inspired by how great PIIT 1.0 was, I’m moving on to PIIT 2.0. The moves are little more difficult and each workout feels more focused on specific areas of your body. Although I completed 1.0, 2.0 is no cake walk. There are still moments during the rounds when I have to take an extra break or modify the move. But it’s worth it. I finally feel like myself again.

Fitness is so much more than having a six-pack. Before, I didn’t feel very confident. I was always overanalyzing how my clothes fit and what I looked like. Getting back into shape was more about the mental strength for me than anything. I have my confidence back. I’m excited again to try new things.

Whether you decided to jump into PIIT 28 (which I highly recommend) or try something else, just get moving. There’s nothing better than sweating to some awesome music to get you in a good mood. Make 2019 your best year yet. I know I am.
