Don’t Fear the Closed Door

I’m a runner. When life get’s overwhelming, I want to sprint to freedom. If I can’t solve the problem, I have the urge to drop everything and get out of dodge.

This year has been full of many challenges. From getting married to learning to deal with grief to allowing God to test me on all levels. I really accepted that God has a bigger plan than I can’t see with my naked eye. With everything seeming to flail wildly, I have no choice to but to trust that God is in control.

I always remembered that saying, “When one door closes, another opens.” This year has me feeling that the doors I think are wide open, are actually shut tight. I feel as if I’m fumbling through the darkness looking for the key. I wonder where I’ll be in a year from now. I wonder what road God is revealing before me.

It’s exhilarating and freeing. Although I may experience a brief moment of sadness at a closing door I prayed would remain open, I know that something great is coming.

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7
